The entire WWE roster readied for the Royal Rumble's over-the-top rope scenario this Sunday by going just that - like Sly Stallone in an arm wrestling tournament - on Raw SuperShow. The 25th anniversary of the Rumble is just around the bend, and the WWE Universe is clamoring to see what a retributive, grim-faced John Cena has planned for Kane and if The Miz can prove that he's truly "No. 1" in the 30-man joust.

Johnny be mad!
Moments after watching his friend, Zack Ryder, carted off in an ambulance, the regret on John Cena's face slowly dissipated in lieu of the meanest mug ever seen on the Cenation leader. Kane chokeslammed Ryder through Raw's steel stage, seriously injuring Long Island Iced-Z and simultaneously breaking something inside of Cena. It took the vilest act committed by The Big Red Monster since his return to trigger a darker side of the 12-time World Champion to (literally) show its face.

Though he may not look the part (unlike his grotesquely masked enemy), Cena has been involved in WWE's most vicious matches - from Hell in a Cell to the Elimination Chamber. He's been through hell and it looks like he's ready to go there one more time when he faces Kane at the Rumble.

The Miz is No. 1
Speaking of infernal damnation, it seems The Miz has a slim chance in hell to once again headline WrestleMania. The former WWE Champion can make it to the marquee main event in Miami but first he'll need to surpass 29 other combatants in the Royal Rumble Match - from start to finish. His loss to R-Truth "earned" Miz the No. 1 spot in Sunday's all-important battle, putting The Awesome One at a large disadvantage in St. Louis. Of course, No. 2 isn't much luckier, but there's a very distinct psychological pressure that the first entrant must endure, even if such a struggle has been overcome in the past. Road Warrior "Ace"
It wasn't red, spike-laden shoulder pads that WWE EVP and Interim Raw GM John Laurinaitis wore into battle against WWE Champion CM Punk. No, unlike Laurinaitis' brother, Road Warrior Animal, the executive came adorned in a silky, choir-inspired robe but in an appropriate shade of scarlet red, perhaps in homage to the legendary Legion of Doom. The clash never took place between "Ace" and Punk, who let the cat out of the bag about Laurinaitis' fraternal ties one week earlier (Read WWE.com's interview with Animal). Nonetheless, what a rrushhh it was to see the WWE Champion lay out his own boss with a GTS! Will this impact the Interim GM's performance view by a returning Triple H on the next Raw.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) ? The Memphis Grizzlies built their longest winning streak in six seasons with a flurry of fast starts. They kept it going with one of the best finishes in franchise history.

Maybe now coach Lionel Hollins' team will be taken seriously.

Rudy Gay scored 23 points, three in the final 23 seconds, and the surging Grizzlies rallied from 20 points down in the second half to beat the Golden State Warriors 91-90 on Monday night.

"That was a big win for us," said Gay, who added nine rebounds and four assists. "We went through a lot to get it. We showed what we're made of and we showed our toughness."

Memphis (10-6) needed a 39-point fourth quarter to get it done.

That was no easy task for a team that managed only 35 points in the entire first half. The Grizzlies were also playing their third game in four nights, with a visit to Portland on Tuesday next up on the schedule.

Instead of collapsing after falling behind 63-43 with 3:23 left in the third quarter, Memphis rallied for what Gay agreed was the team's biggest victory of the season.

The win was the Grizzlies' seventh straight, matching their longest streak since a seven-game run in March 2006.

"We were dead in the water in the first half. We had no answers," Hollins said. "We don't quit, we fight. We did that and we were able to come back and get this win, which is a sweet win."

Mike Conley had 20 points and nine assists for the first-place Grizzlies, who remained a half-game ahead of San Antonio in the Southwest Division. Marc Gasol added 15 points and 11 rebounds while Tony Allen had 14 points and eight rebounds.

Monta Ellis had 20 points and five assists for Golden State, outscored 11-5 over the final 2:15.

"At the start of that fourth quarter, we could have knocked them out," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. "They would have been ready to surrender. We didn't when we had a chance to. They got underneath our skin and we didn't respond."

The Grizzlies kicked off their four-game West Coast trip with a win despite getting outplayed for most of the night before breaking loose in the fourth quarter.

Allen had 10 points in the final period and played stellar defense against Ellis, Conley added nine points and Marreesse Speights scored all eight of his points to help fuel the comeback.

Conley came up big on both ends of the court. He forced a pair of late turnovers, then scored the go-ahead basket on a driving layup after stealing a pass from Stephen Curry.

Gay, who finished 10 of 21 from the floor, then made a 17-foot fadeaway and later added an insurance free throw.

"When you're missing easy layups and easy buckets ... you feel like maybe this just ain't meant to be," Conley said. "But that's where our fight came out in us and we said, 'We have to keep attacking and keep being aggressive.'"

Golden State, which has dropped its last three, missed a flurry of 3-pointers in the waning moments but pulled within 89-87 on Brandon Rush's long jumper. After O.J. Mayo sank a pair of free throws for Memphis, Ellis made a 3 with 0.6 seconds left for the final margin.

Curry finished with 18 points in his second game back from an ankle injury. David Lee added 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Rush scored 10 off the bench.

Golden State built a 17-point lead with just more than 4 minutes left in the first half before Memphis closed to 42-33 on a pair of free throws by Gay with 9.4 seconds left.

Gay and Gasol both had 12 points before halftime but Curry, who missed nearly three weeks with a recurring ankle injury, raced down the court and scored on a layup to make it 44-33 at the break.

The Warriors got a big boost from their bench in the second quarter.

Backup guard Nate Robinson had six assists and Klay Thompson added seven points while Ekpe Udoh and Dominic McGuire combined for seven points as part of a 10-2 run.

Memphis, which has played only one team with a record above .500 during its winning streak, looked tired playing its third game in four days.

The Grizzlies missed 10 of their first 13 shots, committed 11 turnovers in the first half and allowed the hustling Warriors to dish out 14 assists before intermission.

Ellis kept Golden State rolling with a pair of quick buckets in the third quarter. Curry added a 19-foot jumper and Lee scored on a dunk to give the Warriors a 55-39 advantage.

Rush, who had a 3-pointer during Golden State's run early in the second, added another dunk later to push the lead to 63-43.

Memphis pulled within 85-84 when Allen stole a pass from Curry and scored on a short jumper with 1:49 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Grizzlies went ahead for good on Conley's layup.

"We had every opportunity to win," Curry said. "We did everything we could to let it slip away."

Notes: Golden State's current six-game homestand is its longest of the shortened season. ... The home team had the won previous seven games in the series. ... The Warriors are 0-6 against teams from the Western Conference.

Stocks edge higher on euro optimism

U.S. stocks edged higher Monday after equities posted their best week in a month as the euro zone debt crisis and the U.S. economy showed signs of stabilizing.

Euro zone finance ministers will decide Monday what terms of a Greek debt restructuring they are ready to accept for a second bailout package after private creditors said they could not improve their offer to potentially take a real loss of 65 percent to 70 percent on their Greek bonds.

U.S. stocks are up nearly 5 percent this year after a four-day rally last year, with investors particularly emboldened by a turnaround in U.S. banking stocks that have helped lead the rally after an abysmal 2011.

A solid showing in fourth-quarter earnings during the current reporting season has also put a floor in the market.

"If earnings come in decently I don't see any type of a big plunge," said Wayne Kaufman, chief market analyst at John Thomas Financial in New York. But he added: "I'm still concerned about when we get towards the end of earnings season."

"[The market] has had a positive tone since the year began. The turn in the financial stocks has provided a good underpinning for the market," said Rick Meckler, president of investment firm LibertyView Capital Management in New York.

"What you're really starting to see is a decrease in volatility and a market where individual stock earnings are staring to become more important and the correlation is starting to decrease for all stocks."

Halliburton Co, the world's second-largest oilfield services company, posted quarterly profit that beat analysts' estimates, helped by improved activity in North America. The stock, which has rallied 18 percent since late December, fell.

Research In Motion Ltd's co-chief executives bowed to investor pressure and resigned over the weekend, handing the top job to an insider with four years at the struggling BlackBerry maker.

The fourth-quarter earnings season has not been as good as previous ones. Of about 70 companies in the S&P 500 that have reported earnings so far, 60 percent exceeded estimates, according to Thomson Reuters data.

Chesapeake Energy Corp will reduce dry gas drilling and cut production in response to natural gas prices falling below "economically unattractive levels."

Windows Phone Android iPhone Market Share - Business Insider

Windows Phone will surpass iPhone in market share in 2015, according to research firm iSuppli.

iSuppli attributes the giant increase in market share over the next few years "largely" to the introduction of the Nokia Lumia 900, which Nokia launched at CES last week in Las Vegas.

In 2015, Android will lead the two runners up by a very hefty margin with 58.1% market share.?

iSuppli joins Gartner and IDC, which made the same prediction last year (in April, and in March, respectively).

Many Politicians Softening Opposition to Same Sex Marriages (ContributorNetwork)

COMMENTARY | A major step in the effort to legalize same-sex marriage was taken on Friday, January 20, when a coalition of 80 mayors announced their support for legalizing marriage between gays.

Mike Bloomberg, mayor of New York City and head of Mayors for Freedom to Marry said ,"Mayors understand that welcoming committed gay couples to the rights and responsibilities of marriage isn't just the right thing to do." Mayors of Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles are each supportive of such measures.

This announcement comes one day after New Jersey Governor Chris Christie softened his opposition to same-sex marriage and that is a good thing. His most recent statement is that he will make a "deliberate and thoughtful" decision if the New Jersey legislature passes a bill. Previously, in 2009, he vowed to return to the legislature any bill legalizing same-sex marriage "with a big red veto across it."

Governor Christie and other politicians may have been influenced by a recent poll conducted by Quinnipiac University which showed that a majority of New Jersey voters favor legalizing marriage between same-sex partners. This is the first time that more than 50 percent of the respondents favored same-sex marriage. The key word here is "marriage", because New Jersey has recognized domestic partnerships or civil unions since 2006.

If, and when the bill is passed and signed into law, New Jersey would then become the seventh state where same-sex couples can get married. There are also 10 states which recognize civil unions or domestic partnerships.

This is important because during the Republican debates, many candidates, including front-runner Mitt Romney, have called for a Constitutional amendment defining marriage as being between a man and a woman. You need 39 states to ratify an amendment and the more states which recognize marriage, the less likely that passage would occur.

While it is wonderful that some states recognize same-sex marriage, the real progress will only come when the federal government and the IRS recognize that two people of the same sex can be married.

Unfortunately, much of the discrimination is in the form of financial punishment. Gay couples cannot save on their federal income taxes by filing a joint return. They are not entitled to the unlimited marital deduction which is available to heterosexual couples, and that makes their estate issues more complex and expensive.

Heterosexual couples can contribute to a spousal IRA even if one spouse does not work. Gay couples are denied that right. In a traditional marriage, the surviving spouse is entitled to roll over the retirement assets of their deceased loved one without incurring tax consequences. This process is denied gays.

Granting same-sex couples the same rights and entitlements that heterosexual couples receive should be fundamental and the sign of a maturing society.
